ASPEN TIMES

Aspen Skiing Co. will open more terrain at Aspen Mountain and Snowmass this weekend even though the Roaring Fork Valley, like most of Colorado's mountains, has hit a dry spell.

The upper west side of Aspen Mountain will open up Saturday. The FIS and Ruthie's chairlifts will operate, with terrain open only above the Ruthie's chair. Access to the center part of the mountain will be through Tourtellotte Park.

The opening of the additional trails will boost the amount of open acreage to 284 on Aspen Mountain.

At Snowmass, the Banzai Ridge and Coney Glade trails will open to Lunchline on the west side of the mountain. The amount of open terrain is now 264 acres.
