Steamboat Ski Area to offer top-to-bottom skiing Saturday

Mother Nature wasn’t very friendly to the slopes of Mount Werner this week, but it won’t prevent the Steamboat Ski Area from offering top-to-bottom skiing for the first time this season Saturday.

Ski area officials announced Friday afternoon that Storm Peak Express will be fired up Saturday morning and ferry skiers and riders to the top of Storm Peak, where they’ll be able to make turns down Buddy’s Run on packed powder conditions. Other upper-mountain trails opening today include Calf Roper, Meadow Lane and Tornado Lane. The ski area also is expected to open the Preview lift on Saturday.

The expanded terrain offering — the ski area is now operating six lifts serving 41 trails and about 403 acres — comes two days after the mountain was shut down because of strong winds that brought down trees, snapped trail signs in half and damaged buildings.
