Winter closes some Colorado waters

Eleven Mile State Park

The seasons are definitely changing in Colorado - and sportsmen and women and the parks we use are changing right along.

Spinney Mountain State Park closed for the season Sunday after the reservoir iced over. The reservoir is closed to ice fishing because of the reservoir's fluctuating water levels, which create unstable conditions.  It'll open again with the spring thaw.

Eleven Mile State Park is open through winter, and there's ice fishing as conditions permit. Eleven Mile Reservoir is stocked with trout.

Reports say the Gold Medal fishery on the South Platte River between Spinney and Eleven Mile is relatively ice-free and prime for late-season fly fishing.

Cherry Creek State Park's reservoir is closed to all boats until March 2, weather permitting.

Check out conditions and see programs at all of Colorado's state parks online.
