Echo Mountain opens for the season Wednesday on the eve of what could be a snow day!

The first 100 skiers and riders get a free Monster energy drink, and everyone on first chair gets a bag of swag. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Gotta work or go to school?  Plan to head up the hill for opening weekend of the 2011-12 season.

Season passes are still available and include 3 days at Ski Cooper and Sunlight.

The little ski area that could is expanding - literally and figuratively.  There are more runs and more park features than ever, and operators are hoping to move beyond the hardcore park crowd to attract general snow riders and families (new motto: "Let traditions begin").
