Hawk shot with nail gun 'looking very good'
Tuesday, November 29, 2011 08:21

It's not a local "animal good news" story, but I'm sharing it, anyway. Because good news is good news.

A hawk treated by a rescue group after she was shot in the head with a nail gun appears to be doing well in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

People spotted the red-tailed hawk Sunday, "looking very good," Rebecca Dmytryk with the group WildRescue told The San Francisco Chronicle.

The hawk was captured because it was having trouble eating, a nail from a nail gun stuck through her cheek.  She was released into the wild Nov. 3.

Investigators are trying to track down who shot the hawk, using the nail from the nail gun, which authorities say can be tied together like a bullet and a gun.
