Montrose officials should know soon whether their proposal to bring the 2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge to town was a success.

Race officials have told communities that submitted race proposals they will be ready to announce the host cities sometime after Thanksgiving, said Jenni Sopsic, the interim CEO of the Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism, which put together the city’s package.

Originally, organizers had indicated they would send award letters to the winning communities in early November before making a formal announcement in the middle of the month. But that deadline was pushed back.
