Hikers enjoy the solitude of the South Slope of Pikes Peak.
I'm reminded while reading the latest Friends of the Peak newsletter that it takes hundreds of people a year to keep our trails in great shape.
This one organization (don't forget there are many others in the area!) worked on many projects: in 2011 in the South Slope area, Section 16, Barr Trail, Devil’s Playground Trail, Mt. Ester Trail, Crowe Gulch Trail, Bear Creek Trail (USFS #666), Horsethief Park Trail, Seven Bridges Trail, and St. Mary’s Trail.
In the newsletter, Mike Cotter, president of FOTP, thanked the following 145 people and these organization - Army (Hq and Hq Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division); AdAmAn Club; Agilent; Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services; Morgan Stanley Smith Barney; and T. Rowe Price Associates - for their help in 2011. And I thought I'd thank them, too, on behalf of Out There Colorado and all of our readers and online members.
