Steamboat Springs — The snowstorm that blew through Steamboat Springs on Saturday morning only added to the terrain Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. plans to open Wednesday for Scholarship Day, spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said Monday.

Ski Corp. plans to open with 3 lifts serving 23 trails on about 250 acres.

“The natural snowfall from the weekend’s snowstorm absolutely helped ski area crews open more terrain, lifts and acreage for our guests on Scholarship Day,” Kasten said.

Scholarship Day tickets are $25, which includes all open terrain or $20 for a lower-mountain ticket that includes access only to Christie Peak Express. Proceeds from ticket sales of the 21st annual fundraiser benefit the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

Ski Corp. announced that Christie Peak Express, the Gondola and Burgess Creek will serve 10 green, 11 blue and 2 black trails:
Green:  Arc, Big Foot, Boulevard, Flat Out, Park Lane, Right-O-Way, So What, Stampede, Why Not (upper only) and Yoo Hoo
Blue:  Blizzard, Ego, Heavenly Daze, Jess’ Cut Off, Lightning, Rainbow, Rudi’s Run, Sitz, Skyline, Tower and Vogue
Black:  Burgess Creek Lift Line and White Out

Several features will be available in the Lil’ Rodeo terrain park.

Christie Peak Express and the Gondola open at 8:30 a.m. Burgess Creek opens at 8:45 a.m. The first 100 people in line at the Gondola will receive free T-shirts.

Season passes won’t be valid until Thursday, the ski area’s official Opening Day.
