Heart-warming story of Copper's 'Yellow Jacket Frank'
Tuesday, November 15, 2011 11:56

Here's a great story about Frank Walter, the yellow-jacketed legend of Copper Mountain -- written for The Ski Channel's website by Jake Bright, Frank's grandson.

That's Jake, above, his Uncle Larry, his grandpa Frank (in yellow, of course), and Copper president Gary Rodgers taking the first chair of the 2011 season up the hill.

Frank, 89, has been skiing Copper for decades, logging 100-160 days a year.  What a beast!

Read more about Frank Walter, his WWII service, his grandson's memories of skiing with him over the years -- and see how many vertical feet Frank has logged (if you're thinking 4 million, think again!) -- at theskichannel.com.
