Outside magazine asked some top skiers to name their top 5 ski areas, and Colorado got some love.
Here's what they had to say. What are your favorites? Add them in the comments section!
Billy Kiss, 1964 Olympic silver medalist, names 2 Colorado ski areas among his favorite, Steamboat and Vail. He likes Steamboat because there are runs for everyone in your skiing group, and Vail for its back bowls.
Glen Plake, legendary freestyle skier, names 1 Colorado ski area among his top 5: Telluride. He is "blown away" by the expanded terrain.
Big mountain skier Ingrid Backstrom (above) also names 1 Colorado ski area among her top 5: Silverton. It has fantastic snow and heli-skiing "like something out of Alaska."
Aspen made the top 5 ski areas of former U.S. Ski Team mogul king Mike Hattrup. He didn't single out one mountain, but gave props to the variety of the four hills.
