LONGMONT – What’s beer spelled backwards? It’s the name of a new mountain bicycle company launched by Oskar Blues.

The Longmont-based craft brewery, known for its canned beers such as Dale's Pale Ale, is looking to break into the mountain bike industry with its new company REEB (beer spelled backwards) Cycles.

These are hand-made, steel, single-speed, 29er hardtail mountain bikes using the Gates’ Carbon Drive - belt - system.

The first 20 REEB bikes were sold, primarily to employees. The next 20 bikes should be ready around the end of the year.

The bikes cost about $1,200 for the frame and $3,000 to $4,000 for a full build out.
