Like frost on the grass and thicker fleece on your back, the removal of the city bike racks is a sure sign winter is approaching. At least that's the case in Durango, where city officials removed most of the downtown bike racks to make it easier on the snow plow drivers. What a blow to the senses! First the whole dark-at-5-p.m. nonsense. And now this! The bike racks, outside a pub, a cantina a bookstore and a bike shop, will return in May, city fathers say.
