More cyclocross for Colorado: Fall Back Cross
Tuesday, November 01, 2011 15:44

Wondering what cyclocross is all about?

Got the sport wired and looking to boost your national ranking?

Either way, the inaugural Fall Back Cross race, scheduled for Sunday (Nov. 6) in Colorado Springs, is perfect for you!

USA Cycling will present the race at its headquarters at 5943 Delmonico Blvd.  The first race starts at 8 a.m. The last race begins about 3:30 p.m.

(Don't forget the time change in the wee hours of Sunday!)

Designed by local cyclist and recent cyclocross World Cup champion Katie Compton in collaboration with her husband, Mark, the 1.7-K course winds through undeveloped land and includes two natural run-ups and a cyclocross spiral.

The competition is open to all levels of cyclists and will include a first-time women's category for riders new to cyclocross.

There also will be a kids’ skills area, Little Belgium Cross races and a Strider Cup for toddlers in the afternoon.

Results will go toward rankings that will be used for call-ups at the 2012 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships in January in Madison, Wisc.

Register online.

Need an intro to the sport first?  Head to this cyclocross clinic WEDNESDAY at Rock Ledge Ranch!  (Other clinics will be held Nov. 9 and 16, and another local cyclocross race is planned Nov. 19.)
