Sunshine today, snowfall tomorrow
Tuesday, October 25, 2011 07:36

Sure, it's a lovely morning, but you might not be saying the same in 24 hours.

A storm that's already blowing in over the high country (a Breckenridge resident just tweeted that puffy snow clouds are hovering) is predicted to drop 3 to 8 inches of snow across the Pikes Peak region early Wednesday.

Are you ready?

It has been so warm - and will continue to be so Tuesday - that it's not likely to stick (at least at first).  Which means some slipping and sliding.

Manitou Incline regulars already are planning their assault.  (Let's see those pretty snow photos!)

And others may be wondering what to do with the first local snowfall of the year.  We'll post some of our favorite local sledding hills in a bit.

Here's what's forecast for Loveland Pass, Keystone and South Fork, which'll give you some idea of what's in store for Loveland, Arapahoe Basin and Wolf Creek, Colorado's three ski areas that are open for the season.

The area around Loveland and A-Basin may get a foot of fresh snow.  Both resorts are open daily.

Wolf Creek is open Saturdays and Sundays.  That area is not predicted to get hit with as much snow as the northern mountains.

Back here in the Springs...
Here's what we can expect locally from Colorado's ever-changing weather, according to Craig Elliott and crew at KOAA:

60s into the 70s today, with increasing clouds late in the day and a slight chance (20%) of a late afternoon shower.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Custer, Huerfano and Western Las Animas Counties. Snow is forecast from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of Pueblo County on Wednesday.  Here's a link to the area's Hazardous Weather Outlook, provided by the National Weather Service.

The weather crew is predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow in downtown Colorado Springs and 4 to 8 inches in the foothills.

Folks up north - around the Air Force Academy, Monument and Black Forest - and everyone in Teller County might get up to 14 inches!

Four to 8 inches are forecast for Canon City and 2 to 4 inches for Pueblo.

If you think you'll escape the snow by heading south, think again.  Even Trinidad is predicted to get 2 to 5 inches.

Wednesday likely will be COLD, but at least we'll be back to sunshine on Thursday.

And the weather folks say we'll be back to sunshine and 60 degrees+ for the weekend.
