An elk hunt worth forgetting |

Thanks to a concussion, Dudley Blaylock remembers little of the two nights he spent unsheltered outdoors in the Flat Tops north of New Castle after falling into a ravine while stalking a trophy bull elk Saturday.
That may be a blessing, considering the conditions he faced, including a winter storm that blew in early Monday before his rescue later that day. But it comes at the price of a pounding headache.
“You know, my head just feels like it’s split open all the time, and it hasn’t lessened at all,” the 65-year-old said at his New Castle home Tuesday.
But Blaylock was hardly complaining.
“Everything considered, I’m a lucky guy,” he said.
