Labor Day = ski & board bargains

With September right around the corner, it can mean only one thing in Colorado: The countdown to ski season is under way!

And with it come the annual Labor Day gear sales.

Christy Sports kicked off its annual Powder Daze Sale early. It's already under way and continues through Monday (Sept. 5).

Sports Authority's Sniagrab and Colorado Ski and Golf's Ski Rex start Labor Day weekend and run through Sept. 18.

In addition to 2010 and 2011 gear at discount prices, you can buy your annual passes now.  And here's a new one: Pick up the popular Copper Mountain 4Pack ($139) or Winter Park  4Pack ($149) at Christy Sports' Powder Daze Sale by Labor Day and you'll get a fifth day on the mountain for free.

There's also this feebie:  Facebook fans can enter a video of why they love Colorado Ski & Golf and SKI REX for a chance to win an Epic season pass for the Vail Resorts and other prizes.

Skiers and boarders already are lining up at stores in Denver.

The countdown to snowmaking may have ticked to just 30 days, but there's plenty to do at the resorts until then.  Colorado Ski Country USA sent out this list of upcoming festivities:
