Australia’s first Tour de France champion Cadel Evans returns to racing at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge next week but without lofty expectations.

The 34-year-old will enter the August 22 – 28 stage race on the back of a team training camp that follows a whirlwind homecoming in Melbourne, Australia last week.
Evans will rejoin with BMC teammates, some fresh from the Tour of Utah, for the six stage race that begins with an 8.3km prologue in Colorado Springs.
He headlines a provisional eight-man team line-up that includes Australian neo-professional Tim Roe, George Hincapie, Brent Bookwalter, Chad Beyer, Chris Butler, Chris Barton and Jeff Louder.
Evans had little time to train during his three-day return to Australia but travelled directly to the United States afterward to prepare.
“I may be okay there, I may be really bad there,” Evans said.
