Keep this in mind:
Some streets in downtown Aspen will close at 6 a.m. Aug. 24, hours before the first cyclists competing in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge hit town.
And Independence Pass will close to traffic at noon.
The stage race, Aug. 22-28, begins in Colorado Springs with a prologue. Take a video tour of the route from Garden of the Gods to the USOC headquarters downtown.
Stage 2, “The Queen Stage,” will take riders 131 miles from Gunnison to Aspen over Cottonwood and Independence passes,
Cyclists are expected to enter Aspen after blazing down Independence Pass at about 3 p.m., organizers say. See what it's like to zoom down Independence Pass in this helmet-cam video.
