Another running race coming to Pikes Peak

There's a new run in town.
Last year featured the inaugural Assault on the Peak bike ride, from Manitou Springs to the summit of Pikes Peak. This year, Assault coordinator Summit Cycling Productions, LLC is teaming up with Pikes Peak Marathon, Inc. to put more people up the mountain.
The Pikes Peak Road Ascent will bring runners into the equation with a race up the Pikes Peak Highway, from the toll gate at the base of the mountain to the Glen Cove waystation. It's an 11.6-mile climb for 3,675 feet of vertical elevation.
The run will take place Aug. 28, the same day as the 2011 Assault on the Peak.
More details will be released next week at an introductory press conference.
