Denver Nuggets Chris "Birdman" Andersen and Nene are among the celebrities scheduled to participate or appear in Saturday's Armed Forces Community Run on Peterson Air Force Base.
Jennifer Berg, a fighter with MMA, also will be on base to support runners and promote nutritional products. The run is open to the public. Registration will be before the race in the area of the starting line. Participants are asked to enter through the North Gate, off Platte Avenue and Peterson Boulevard.
Maj. James Bales, last year's Air Force Athlete of the Year, is scheduled to run with other participants.
Andersen ranked second in the NBA for blocked shots during the 2008-2009 season, while Nene boasts the second-best career field goal percentage in franchise history.
Berg, nicknamed Li'l Ice, performs in Denver as part of MMAs fighting circuit. She was featured in Colorado's first women's only fighting event -- Clash of the Titans 8 -- and was nominated as 2010 Best in Colorado MMA Awards in the category of Best Female Professional Fighter.
