Summit Huts Association is looking for volunteers to help prepare huts for use.
Spring, summer and fall projects are planned at Francie's Cabin, Janet's Cabin, Section House and Ken's Cabin.
Volunteers receive a certificate good for one night in the Hutmasters' Quarters of any Summit Hut for each day volunteered. Scheduled dates, locations and projects are:
May 21 & 22 — Janet's Cabin
May 28 & 29 — Janet's Cabin These two weekends primarily will involve shoveling snow to prepare for a deck demolition and subsequent reconstruction in June.
Volunteers also will be needed to help with the construction project. Yes, there'll be time to ski during these work weekends. At least four volunteers per day are needed to complete the work.
June 25 — Francie's Cabin
Clean and ready the cabin for visitors. 10-12 volunteers needed.
July 16 — Janet's Cabin
Clean and ready the cabin for visitors. 10-12 volunteers needed.
Aug. 21 & 22 — Francie's Cabin
Clean the cabin, and chop, haul and stack firewood in preparation for fall & winter visitors. 10-12 volunteers needed.
Sept. 10 & 11 — Janet's Cabin
Clean the cabin, stack and load firewood, work with heli-drop. Volunteers needed at staging area (Copper Mountain) and at Janet's Cabin. Date is helicopter and weather dependent. 15-20 volunteers needed.
Oct. 1 — Section House and Ken's Cabin
Clean the cabin, and chop, haul and stack firewood for visitors. 8-10 volunteers needed.
