Hikers beware: break-ins at Springs trailheads

I feel like I write this story every spring, but it bears repeating:
According to TV station KOAA, Colorado Springs police have seen in increase in cars being broken into at trailheads. Read their report here.
The parks hit the most are also the most popular parks: Palmer Park, Bear Creek Park, Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Canyon Park and Red Rock Canyon.
So it goes without saying you should lock your car and leave nothing valuable showing, or even in the trunk.
