Maintenance worker injured after falling from Steamboat lift

A Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. lift mechanic was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after falling about 20 feet while working on the Sunshine Express chairlift at Steamboat Ski Area.

Travis Wilkinson, of Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue, said the unidentified worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Ski Corp. spokesman Mike Lane said two lift mechanics were doing routine tower maintenance at about 3 p.m. A malfunction occurred causing their work chair to fall approximately 20 feet to the ground.
