How dry is Pikes Peak?

(Photo from 14ers.com)

The answer is very, very dry.

A hiker posted this photo to mountaineering website 14ers.com, and from the discussion there, it sounds like pretty soon one will be able to hike from Manitou Springs to the summit without getting one's feet wet.

Read the discussion here.

The snow-monitoring station at Glen Cove has recorded a miserable 6.7 inches of precipitation on the peak since October, and snowpack stands at a 1 inch. Expect that to be gone, too, if this warm weather continues.

It seems like spring skiing on the peak may be out this year....
