While many locals say they appreciate Aspen Skiing Co.'s decision to keep one local ski area open through Easter, others are scratching their heads at the choice of Highlands over either Aspen Mountain or Snowmass, writes Madeleine Osberger in the Snowmass Sun.
Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said the Highlands' orientation and elevation “gives us the best chance of having the best snow up high.”
Also, Easter is late on the calendar this year, and many of regular Easter vacation visitors have already come and gone.
The other ski areas are celebrating the end of the season this weekend with the second annual Base Bash featuring activities, bands, beverages and shopping specials.
