Snow crushes CDOT snowplow

The side wall of a Colorado Department of Transportation facility near Arapahoe Basin caved in due to snow weight Wednesday, crushing a CDOT snowplow inside the building, transportation officials confirmed Thursday.

One wall of the facility buckled inward under the weight of significant snowpack between 2 and 4 a.m. Wednesday, likely totaling the snowplow parked inside and causing an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to CDOT spokesman Bob Wilson.

"The damage is significant on that side of the wall at that building," Wilson said. "Luckily nobody got hurt."

The transportation department has not yet assessed the exact cost of the damages.
