Skiers rescued from Breck chairlift

The high-altitude Imperial Lift at Breckenridge Ski Resort broke down Wednesday and resulted in six skiers having to be rope-evac'd just after noon, according to the Summit Daily News. No injuries were reported.

The mechanical issues were related to weather conditions, the resort said.

The chair did not reopen Thursday due to weather conditions but is expected to reopen Friday.

In a rope evacuation, ski patrol sets up a rope and pulley system to lower people down from the chairlift.

I've always wondered how rescues work.

Ever been evac'd off a lift?  If so, tell me about it.  (Just curious.)
