When Kelli Emmett received word last month that Giant had added a rider, she didn’t need an introduction.

She was well aware of her new teammate’s credentials; she sees them on a regular basis.

A rival, training partner, fellow Colorado Springs resident and friend, Katie Compton was the perfect choice as far as Emmett was concerned.

“Katie is amazing with anything that has to do with a bike,” Emmett said. “She is great at the track, mountain, road and cyclocross.

“I haven’t seen her at the BMX track, but I am sure she has mad skills there as well.”

Compton’s focus will be international racing, while Emmett will race primarily in the U.S. It’s safe to say they will track each other’s progress this season.

“We are really competitive with each other but in a fun way,” Emmett said. “We have both been racing for years and are able to not let the competitiveness affect our relationship off the bike.”
