Rescue crews Wednesday will resume the search for four Denver men who have not returned from a backcountry ski trip near Aspen, according to the Denver Post. Crews will try to reach the men using snowmobiles. Air support has been grounded due to snowfall in the area, according to Adam Crider, spokesman for the Pitkin County Sheriff Department. "Right now the weather is not cooperating and I don't know when it is going to clear off," Crider said. "The snow is just hard enough that it is keeping us down." Mountain Rescue Aspen and the Pitkin County Sheriff Department launched a search for the men Tuesday afternoon after they did not return from their trip to the Goodwin Green Hut. Police were notified Monday that the men may be overdue from their trip. The hut is about 11 miles south of Aspen, and can be reached via Richmond Ridge off Aspen Mountain. The men reserved the hut for the nights of March 26 -28, but told friends they would leave the backcountry Monday. Because of poor weather conditions, it was thought the men would likely stay at the hut Monday and leave Tuesday. Following procedure, a note asking them to call the Sheriff's Office was left on the party's vehicle Monday night. The search began when the men had not returned to their car nor called deputies by Tuesday afternoon. The names of the men have not been released.
