A month of snow riding remains at Vail Mountain

VAIL — For skiers and riders who want every last day they can get on the mountain, a late Easter is a blessing this season.
But for those who have to keep their businesses rolling during a time that has typically meant businesses are closed, the late holiday and subsequently late ski season has remained a topic of discussion this year.
Vail Mountain is keeping the chair lifts running through Easter, April 24. While it's one of the later closings in the resort's 49-year history, there have been at least two later closing dates — both in May — during the 1990s.
The resort is already counting more than 400 inches of snowfall for the season, which is a good place to be since there's still a month of the season left. Average snowfall for the past 10 years has been 350 inches.
