It's been spring skiing up in the high country for a few days now - warm and sunny, but not much new snow. You want to wait until 10 a.m. to hit it so the ice softens and you'll want to be done by 2 because it turns to slush.
Good news is on the way, in the form of a spring storm heading our way.
There's still a lot of disagreement on where it will hit and how much snow. The National Weather Service is predicting 8 to 18 inches, with the heaviest amounts in the mountains north of Interstate 70. A winter storm warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday.
Meanwhile, our friend Joel Gratz at coloradopowderforecast.com thinks it will be lighter, 5 to 9 inches, most of the falling overnight Thursday. He agrees the southern mountains and Monarch Mountain will be on the lighter side.
Either way, it seems like Friday might be our first real powder day in a while, and with March marching toward April, who knows how many more there will be?
See you up there!
