Whoa! Vail Resorts is selling 2011-12 season passes

Yep. A few sunny days and it appears it's already time to push skiing and riding into the next season. Or at least to make a down payment on a lift pass.
(We know, though, that this is WAY too soon. There are epic snow days yet to come. And sunny spring skiing. And grilling on the Beach. And snow boater X at Monarch. And pond skimming everywhere!)
Still, looking ahead, hang with me here as I relay this news from Vail Resorts: This year's Colorado Pass will become the Epic Local Pass.
And paying $49 now (through May 30) locks in the lowest pass rates for next season.
Here's a rundown:
- The Epic Local Pass (formerly the Colorado Pass) is $499 and offers unlimited and unrestricted skiing or riding at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin AND includes 10 restricted days at Vail or Beaver Creek. AND it includes skiing or riding at Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe, with limited restricted days.
- The Epic Pass is $649 and offers unlimited, unrestricted skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe.
- The Summit Value Pass is $409 and offers unlimited, unrestricted skiing and riding at Keystone and Arapahoe Basin AND access to Breckenridge with limited restrictions.
- The Epic Local Pass is $499 and offers skiers and riders 7 unrestricted days at any one of Vail Resorts’ six mountain resorts plus Arapahoe Basin.
ANOTHER BIG CHANGE:
“We’ve taken the hassle out of buying your pass. Epic Local Pass holders can order their season passes online rather than picking them up at a Front Range location,” said Blaise Carrig, co-president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division.
All passes are available at www.coloradopass.com.
The prices above are guaranteed through May 30. Passes must be paid in full by mid-September.
If you buy a pass early you also get summer benefits, like sightseeing and gondola rides.
