Man charged with punching girl on ski hill pleads guilty

EAGLE COUNTY — The Georgia man charged with child abuse for punching a 14-year-old girl in the face at Beaver Creek in December has pled guilty to third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Scott Filler, 41, told police after the incident that he thought the 14-year-old girl had been skiing carelessly when she bumped into Filler's 4-year-old son, according to police reports.

Eagle County Sheriff's Office Lt. Mike McWilliam said in police reports in December that Filler jumped on top of the girl and hit her in the face with his fist.
