Eldora ends 'ski free' ticket-swap promo

Eldora Mountain Resort ended a promotion Friday that allowed skiers to trade in a ticket from another resort for a free Eldora pass -- but some skiers headed up to the resort Sunday expecting the deal to still be in place.
When Eldora launched its "ski free" promotion on Feb. 21, resort officials said they did not yet know when they would discontinue the offer.
"We're really just watching it play out and watching where people are coming from," Eldora spokesman Rob Linde said at the time. "It really is up in the air right now."
Linde said Monday that the resort wrapped up the "very successful" campaign Friday, and that the resort announced this decision 48 hours beforehand.
"We had it on our Web site Thursday that we were going to end it," he said. "We used social media, we used our Web site, we sent out an e-mail."
