Free lift ticket day at Monarch April 4

You may recall the Feb. 27 power outage at Monarch Mountain that kept the lifts off and sent thousands of skiers home unhappy - on a day the southern Colorado resort had the best snow in the state.

The resort issued refunds to those who bought lift tickets and rented gear, but the episode still caused plenty of anger among skiers. It looks like Monarch has found a way to make up for it.

Monarch marketing director Greg Ralph confirmed this morning the ski area will offer free lift tickets Monday, April 4.

Said Ralph, "We’re trying to turn it into a positive so we’re asking for a non-perishable food item donation to benefit The Grainery, our local food bank."
