A celebration of life for David Riddle is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 4-7 p.m. at Carver's Bakery in Winter Park.
Riddle, 48, died while snowboarding out-of-bounds near Winter Park Resort on Saturday, Feb. 12. He was a long-time resident of the Fraser Valley and worked as a baker at Carver's.
According to resort officials, Riddle was snowboarding on U.S. Forest Service land in an area known as 40 Gate, a dense stand of trees east of Mary Jane mountain, reached via an access gate.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, Winter Park Ski Patrol received report of the lost snowboarder. With support from the Grand County Sheriff's Office, ski patrol began a search for Riddle. He was found unresponsive in a tree well and was later pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
