Lysacek to challenge Vonn on slopes?

No, I don't think it'll happen.

But gold medal-winning figure skater Evan Lysacek said in a teleconference Tuesday with gold medal-winning skier Lindsey Vonn that he's almost ready to take her on - even though he only started skiing in December.

Evan and Lindsey were named USOC Male and Female Athletes of the Year.  (For more Olympics news, see the stories and blogs by Brian Gomez.)

He says he's loving the slopes and only skis black diamonds now.  It's probably quite freeing after so many years focused on the ice!

I talked to Evan at the Winter Games in Vancouver.   He seems intense on the ice (and in that photo, above), but was pretty laid back when we met a couple of hours after he won the gold medal.  He was kick-back and playful, enjoying his moment and also seeming to want to share it with everyone.

I can totally imagine him teasing Lindsey about his awe-inspiring skiing skills.

Here's text of the interchange between Evan Lysacek and Lindsey Vonn at Universal Sports.  Funny.
