DENVER - Up to 7,000 paying spectators will get prime viewing from Bannock Street and the plaza in front of the City and County Building for the LG FIS World Cup Snowboard Big Air event.
"You'll see the entire ramp, all the tricks from soup to nuts," Sue Baldwin, director of event development for Denver Sports — the nonprofit group putting on the event, said of the paid spots, which range from $45 to $200 VIP passes.
Free viewing areas will be off to the side, "but you won't see the whole thing," she said.
Admission is being charged because of the costs to put on the World Cup-sanctioned event that include snowmaking, building the ramp and paying the park fee.
"Costs to hold this in the mountains would be $400,000 to $800,000, and we are above that," Baldwin said. "We are 100 percent on the hook for this."
