Missing skier found safe at Eldora

A 19-year-old Gunnison woman is safe tonight after becoming lost for two and a half hours while sking at Eldora Mountain Resort, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

A Sheriff's Office statement said that Greer Garcia was skiing with her boyfriend and her boyfriend's brother when the group split up around 3:30 p.m. to allow the two men to make a final downhill run, the statement said.

According to the statement, Garcia went the wrong direction in search of the parking lot, continuing on until she accidentally stepped in a creek and decided to wait for help. Garcia's companions told authorities that Garcia was carrying no food or water, the Sheriff's Office said.
