Big Air ski & snowboard ramp under construction in Denver

The massive ramp that will be a focal point of the Big Air ski and snowboard event this month in Denver's Civic Center Park is being built this week.  (That's a rendering, above.)

The ramp is said to be about 100 feet tall and 300 feet long with about a 40-degree steep.

Big Air is set for Jan. 25 and 26 and will draw some top skiers and snowboarders. It kicks off Mile High Snow Week and the Snowsport Industry in America meeting in Denver.

Only a few days left to use the facebook promo code, 15offbigair, to get either a 4 pack of tickets for $99.99 or a single ticket for $29.99!  That's 50% off a regular one-day ticket. (There are VIP tix, too.)

Here's the Big Air Facebook page.

OutThereColorado.com will be at the event.  Look for us to talk about the site, shoot some photos, get a gift and sign up for a ski/ride & stay package at Breckenridge.

It seems a bit odd to me this is a couple days before the X Games at Aspen Snowmass, which is why we might not see some of our favorite athletes at the Denver exhibition. (Who wants to risk getting hurt the day before the X Games?)

But, hey, a giant ramp for tricks in the downtown Denver?  Who doesn't want to see that!?

Civic Center Park is at Colfax and Broadway.

Switchfoot and One Republic will perform at Big Air.

Oh, and we'll be at the X Games too.  Look for us there!
