Celebrate the purchase of Section 16

From the Palmer Land Trust:

Section 16 Celebratory Hike!

Come take a hike with Palmer Land Trust staff on January 8 at Section 16 to celebrate the transfer of the property from the State Land Board to the City of Colorado Springs.  Palmer staff will be on hand to answer questions about the transfer and to explain the conservation easement Palmer now holds on the property.  After decades of work, let's celebrate this monumental achievement for open space in the Pikes Peak region!

Palmer staff will congregate at 10:00 am at the Gold Camp Road trailhead for a quick welcome and thank you to the community.  Most staff will hike the Red Rock Loop/Palmer Trail.  It is approximately 5.3 miles and intermediate in difficulty level.  (see attachment).  The hike is informal, and we expect some may wish to hike further or shorter distances and at different paces.  Dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind the trail may be slick or muddy. For more information call Amanda Hill at 719-632-3236

Directions to the trailhead:  Highway 24 to 26th St. south, up two switchbacks to Gold Camp Road, turn right (west) on Gold Camp and go another mile to trailhead.  If possible please carpool, the trailhead parking lot fills quickly.
