Skier dies at Keystone after hitting tree

A Centennial man died Sunday when he skied into a tree at Keystone Ski Resort in Summit County.

Sean Jared Bender, 38, was wearing a helmet but died of blunt-force trauma to his chest at about 11 a.m., Summit County Coroner Joanne Richardson said.

Bender was on an intermediate blue trail called Prospector on North Peak at Keystone.

He is survived by a wife and a 9-month-old daughter, Richardson said.

Bender is the fourth skier who has died on Colorado's slopes this season, according to the Denver Post.
