More than 500 brave chilly temps to finish Rescue Run

With temperatures hovering in single digits Saturday morning, nearly 600 runners started 2011 with a brisk run through Palmer Park.
Peter Maksimow of Manitou Springs won the Rescue Run 10K in 36 minutes, 44 seconds. He was followed by Joe McDaniel (37:00) and Daniel Castaneda (37:59), both of Colorado Springs.
Connilee Walter easily claimed the women's title in 43:40. Tracy Thelen was runner-up in 45:57 while Sarah Guhl took third in 48:28. All three are residents of Colorado Springs.

Rochelle Persson of Colorado Springs was the top female finisher in the Rescue Run 5K, crossing the finish line in 21:02. Diana Trillo (23:49) and Kaleigh Kroeker (23:58), both of Colorado Springs, rounded out the top three.
The top male finisher was Michael Claflin in 18:58. Ronnie Archuleta (20:16) and Drew Stimson (20:42) took second and third. All three runners hail from Colorado Springs.

Proceeds from the 33rd annual race go to the El Paso County Search and Rescue.
