Epic Mix, the new online application by Vail Resorts, is now live. Every lift at their mountains has a scanner, and every time you get onto it with your season pass, or even a lift ticket, it records the time and lift you ride.
That's how I know I skied 12,796 vertical feet Thursday. And how I know I am now something called a Level 5 Skier.
If you have a pass, visit their website www.snow.com/epicmix. Have your pass number and sign up, and you can see each time you have been on the hill.
For me, it was a stark realization that I only skied for 3 hours Thursday.
In the future, you'll be able to look it up on your Android.
It's a novelty, of course, and I am not exactly welling with pride in the fact they awarded me a "Mr. T" pin for riding the T-Bar at least five times. But I like the potential, and it would be neat to be able to see a map of the mountain and trace my runs on there, but I suppose that would require sensors at every run.
If you have a Vail Resorts pass, check it out, and see how bad a skier you really are.
