Colorado Springs man dies after ski accident

BEAVER CREEK — A coroner says a 59-year-old man has died after a ski accident at Beaver Creek Resort.

Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis tells the Vail Daily that James Wilson of Colorado Springs died of blunt force trauma Dec. 21. She says there were no witnesses, so it's unknown how he was injured.

The resort says the accident happened on an expert trail.

Bettis says another skier found Wilson shortly after the accident and spoke with him briefly before Wilson lost consciousness.

Resort officials say he was wearing a helmet.
