Wind said to be key factor in Maine lift accident

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — Investigators say high wind was a primary factor in a chair lift accident at a Maine ski area that injured eight.

Ethan Austin, a spokesman for the Sugarloaf resort, says the preliminary findings were made Wednesday by inspectors from the Maine Board of Elevator and Tramway Safety.

The investigation into Tuesday's accident is continuing.
