Body found may be missing Aspen ski lift operator

From the ASPEN TIMES newspaper:

ASPEN — A body discovered Monday under the Maroon Creek Bridge on the outskirts of Aspen may be that of missing Snowmass Village resident George Aldrich.

An area resident found the body in a place that was previously searched, according to Aspen police. It was found at mid-afternoon.

While positive identification of the body has yet to be made, circumstantial evidence suggests it is Aldrich's body, and his family has been notified of the discovery, police said.

The police have requested assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. There was no immediate indication of the cause of death, police said.

Aldrich, 28, was reported missing on Nov. 29, when he failed to show up for work as a lift operator for the Aspen Skiing Co.

He had been out with friends in Aspen on Saturday night, Nov. 27, and got on a bus at the Rubey Park station in downtown Aspen to head home.
