Castaneda, who finished in 17 minutes, 44 seconds, pulled away down the stretch from runner-up Gerald Romero to win by 31 seconds.

The two broke away from a field of about 100 runners midway through the race. Romero, who had planned to run Saturday in the Rock Canyon Half Marathon, said the field for the Pueblo race was capped before he was able to enter. Romero finished third in Pueblo last year.

Persson, who was visibly shaking at the end of the cold race near the Palmer Divide, won the women's title in 21:19. Ali Deitsch, 14, was second in 22:24.

Here's a look at the top 10 finishers.
