The early-season snow continues!

That's Vail this morning. The resort announced it will open for the season Friday with 550 acres, more than originally planned. They've gotten a foot of snow since the weekend, and the current storm is expected to drop another 8 to 16 at the Eagle County resort.

The snow continues to fall in heaps elsewhere, too, 16 inches over two days at Breck and 10 at Keystone.  Winter Park, where 24 inches have fallen over three  days, opens for the season Wednesday.

That early-season drought that delayed the opening of any areas for weeks now seems a distant memory. And because it's early season, you can find some pretty decent lodging deals. Keystone is offering a special, to mark its 40th anniversary, of $40 a person at the Keystone Inn Saturday night.
