Readers of Colorado Runner magazine voted the Pikes Peak Marathon as the state's best marathon in 2010.
The magazine sent out a survey to avid runners throughout the state. About 400 took part in the voting for 11 categories.
The Pikes Peak Marathon is firmly established as on of the nation's showcase races, featuring 26.2 miles of climbing and descending from the 14,115-foot summit. In August, Keri Nelson won her second Marathon title while Matt Carpenter won his fifth straight.

Other races selected in the Colorado Runner survey included the Cherry Creek Sneak 5K/5-miler (race of the year), the Heart and Sole Half Marathon in Boulder (half marathon), the 10K at 10,000 feet in Steamboat Springs, the Cottonwood Classic in Thornton (5K), the Run Rabbit Run 50-miler in Steamboat Springs (ultra), the Leadville Trail Marathon (non-ultra trail race) and the Vail Half Marathon (most scenic race).
